350 Now at Work Building CA Valley Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant

Six months later, approximately 350 skilled workers, including electricians, carpenters and iron workers, are busy constructing the 250-megawatt solar power plant.

The California Valley Solar Ranch is enabling these workers to support their families and remain in the area rather than traveling out of town in search of work.

In addition to creating job opportunities, when CVSR is operational in 2013, the Energy Department expects the plant to avoid over 425,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually and produce enough clean electricity to power over 64,000 homes.
