Wind energy in Chile: approved a wind power plant of Ibereolica

Chile’s environmental service SEA has approved Spanish renewable energy company Grupo Ibereólica’s environmental impact assessment (EIA) regarding its 170 MW Cabo Leones wind farm project to be located in Chile.

The wind farm will use 85 wind turbines with an investment of $365 million. Construction is scheduled to begin April 30, 2012.

Grupo Ibereólica also submitted an EIA concerning a transmission line to connect the company’s planned wind farm to the central SIC grid, according to the article.
