Siemens awarded 407 MW wind energy order

In November 2011, MidAmerican Energy and Siemens entered into a wind turbines supply agreement for an additional 176 wind turbines to be constructed at three wind farm plants in Iowa. Each wind turbine is capable of producing 2.3 MW of energy.

Siemens will provide SWT-2.3-108 wind turbines for MidAmerican Energy’s recently announced 103.5 MW Vienna wind farm; 200.1 MW Eclipse wind power project; and 101.2 MW Morning Light wind energy project. The contract includes a five-year service, maintenance and warranty agreement.

Siemens also will provide one additional 2.3 MW wind turbine, which will be installed at MidAmerican Energy’s Rolling Hills wind farm.

The nacelles and blades for the three wind energy projects will be manufactured at Siemens’ nearby manufacturing facilities in Fort Madison, Iowa, and Hutchinson, Kan.
