Support wind power

I’d like to extend a big thanks to Sens. Bennet and Udall and Reps. Tipton, DeGette, Polis, Perlmutter, Coffman and Gardner for sending a bipartisan letter to request the extension of the clean-energy Production Tax Credit.

It speaks greatly to the economic benefits of wind energy in our state that lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are collaborating to ensure its future. As stated in the letter, “Our state is a wind energy leader, currently generating the third-highest percentage of power from wind turbines of any state in the nation.” We’d be wise to protect this valuable resource.

The tax credit is expected to expire at the end of 2012 for wind energy. It is important Congress extend this provision now as the uncertainty of a last-minute decision will damage the industry’s ability to garner sound investment and support sustained growth. I encourage you to let your congressmen know today that you support clean energy and the Production Tax Credit extension — it is imperative to the economic future of Colorado and our nation.
