Croatia to invest in wind energy and solar power

In the next few years, Croatia will rush to increase the energy production from renewable sources more than tenfold. Croatia has pledged to fulfil the 20-20-20 directive, by which it would lower its CO2 emissions by 20 per cent and increase energy efficiency from renewable sources.

Croatia plans to invest in wind turbines and solar power plants as part of an investment push estimated at 8 billion kunas (1.055 billion Euros).

The Ministry of Construction and Spatial planning is also getting ready to pass a law about energy efficiency in buildings. A framework is expected by the summer by which hundreds of schools, kindergartens, halls and other public buildings will be renovated in order to be more energy efficient.
