Suzlon arm bags wind power order from US company

US developer enXco is an EDF Energies Nouvelles company. "REpower Systems SE has concluded a contract for the delivery of 25 wind turbines with enXco. The wind turbines will be used at the Shiloh IV wind farm, situated in Solano County, California," Suzlon said in a statement.

enXco signs Wind Power Agreement With REpower for 50 MW. With Shiloh IV wind farm, enXco will have developed five wind energy projects in the Montezuma Hills Wind Resource Area. Three of these wind power projects (355 MW) utilize the REpower MM92 wind turbines.

enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles Company, has signed a turbine supply agreement with German turbine manufacturer REpower Systems SE for 25 MM92 2.05 megawatt wind turbine generators. These turbines will supplement a previous order with REpower to supply the full capacity of the 102.5 MW Shiloh IV Wind Project located in Solano County, California.

Shiloh IV Wind Project is a repowering effort to upgrade older technology allowing for increased generation of clean energy with fewer wind turbines. Project development includes the removal of existing turbines installed in 1989.

"We are pleased to be able to implement today’s state-of-the-art turbine technology to achieve more than four-times greater capacity and nearly ten-times more energy with minimal addition in land resources," said Jeff Ghilardi, vice president, wind business unit for enXco.

enXco will develop, build, and own the Shiloh IV Wind Project while PG&E will purchase the power generated under a 25-year power purchase agreement. Turbine delivery is slated for fall of 2012, with commercial operation expected by the end of 2012.

With Shiloh IV, enXco will have developed five wind projects in the Montezuma Hills Wind Resource Area for a total of 511.5 MW in Solano County. Three of these projects (355 MW) utilize the REpower MM92 turbine.

enXco– an EDF Energies Nouvelles Company — develops, constructs, operates and manages renewable energy projects throughout the United States. For more than two decades, they have been a leader in wind-energy focusing on large-scale wind projects. enXco’s portfolio includes solar and biomass technologies, in an effort to help drive the transition to a sustainable energy economy. enXco has grown to be a significant owner and developer of wind energy installations in the United States, and is the largest third-party operations and maintenance provider for wind farms in North America.
