Wind farm completed in Oklahoma

Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) has completed the 227.5 MW Crossroads wind energy plant in northwestern Oklahoma. The wind power project was a partnership between OG&E, Siemens (NYSE: SI) and Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. (RES Americas.)

The $451 million wind power project uses 95 Siemens wind turbines rated at 2.3 MW each, plus three, 3 MW direct-drive wind turbines.

The Crossroads wind farm connects with OG&E’s Windspeed transmission line, which was energized in 2010 and delivers wind energy across OG&E’s 30,000-square-mile electric service area.
