Wind energy in Honduras: wind farm brought online

The $200 million wind power plant was built as a turnkey contract for owner Mesoamerica Energy using 51 Gamesa G87 2 MW wind turbines. The contract includes a 2-year provision for maintenance services following startup.

Honduras’ state-owned grid operator Empresa Nacional de Energia Electrica will distribute the output under a 20-year power purchase agreement, the article said. Investment funding was provided by the U.S. Export-Import Bank and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration.
