Turkey orders 50 MW of Nordex wind turbines

Nordex sells 50 MW wind energy to Turkish wind farm development. The 20 2.5MW wind turbines are for the Zeytineli wind power farm, which will be built in Alaçati-Çesme in the province of Izmir in the first quarter of 2013.

Nordex entering the new year with a 50 MW wind energy contract. 20 multi-megawatt wind turbines ordered by Bilgin Enerji for Turkish wind farm.

For Nordex, business in Turkey, in which it is one of the market leaders, has got off to a strong start in 2012. It has now received a contract for the delivery of 20 multi-megawatt turbines from its 2.5 MW series from Turkish power station operator Bilgin Enerji, for which Nordex has previously assembled three wind farms with a total capacity of 210 MW.

The “Zeytineli” wind farm is to be installed on the hill rows of Alaçatý-Çeþme in the province of Izmir in the first quarter of 2013. The coastal location is characterised by good wind conditions, allowing the turbines to generate a combined annual yield of around 165 gigawatt/hours, equivalent to an above-average capacity factor of 38 percent.

“I am delighted that we are able to continue our successful relations with Bilgin and see this as underscoring once more the efficiency of our local Turkish company as well the quality of our products,” says Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, Nordex chief customer officer. The partnership between the two companies goes back to 2007. “With the hybrid design layout consisting of both N90 and N100 gamma generation turbines, Nordex provided us the optimum energy yield for our Zeytineli Wind Farm Project” said Tolga Bilgin, Vice President of Bilgin Enerji.

The financial partners for the wind farm are BayernLB and Euler Hermes Kreditversicherung. In addition to the conventional sale of electricity, Bilgin Enerji also plans to market carbon credits from the project. Around 160,000 tons of CO2 emissions can be avoided through the clean production of electricity at Zeytineli.
