Rajasthan opens bidding for 200 MW of solar energy projects

The state of Rajasthan in India has opened the bidding process for its latest round of solar power projects to developers, reports Bloomberg.

At stake is 200 MW of capacity, divided equally between concentrating solar thermal and PV. Companies are permitted to bid for both, with individual project sizes totalling 50MW for solar thermal and between 5MW and 10MW for PV. The deadline for submitting applications is January 30, after which the agency will shortlist candidates meeting all the eligibility requirements. Bids are due to be opened in mid-April.

Meanwhile, plans to auction a further 50 MW of solar power projects to companies that agree to build manufacturing facilities in the state are awaiting government approval. Rajasthan’s government had proposed that companies be eligible for licenses to install 10 MW for every 25 MW of manufacturing capacity they build.
