Vestas 112-3.0 MW wind energy order in Sweden for 96 MW

Vestas receives 96 MW order in Sweden from Stena Renewable AB. Installation of 32 x V112-3.0 MW wind turbines for the Lemnhult wind farm in Vetlanda Municipality, Sweden, will begin in August 2012.

With reference to Vestas Wind Systems A/S’ company announcement No. 50/2011 of 12 December 2011, Vestas has received an order from Stena Renewable AB for 32 units of the V112-3.0 MW wind turbine. The order has a total capacity of 96 MW and the turbines will be installed in Lemnhult situated in the municipality of Vetlanda, Sweden.

Delivery and installation of the turbines for the Lemnhult project will begin in August 2012 and is scheduled to be completed in April 2013.

The contract includes supply, installation, and commissioning of the turbines as well as a 15-year full scope Service and Maintenance agreement, AOM 5000, with production based availability warranty.

The V112-3.0 MW turbine is designed for low and medium wind speeds and was released for sale in August 2010. The Lemnhult power plant will become one of Sweden’s largest projects and is another breakthrough for the V112 turbine in the Scandinavian market. The Lemnhult plant is estimated to deliver a yearly production of approx 270 GWh of renewable energy.

In 2006 Vestas delivered the first turbines to Stena Renewable. The company’s head of purchasing and operations, Anders Rylin, states: “We have high expectations for the V112-3.0 MW turbine. Together with a 15-year full service agreement and production based availability, it creates a strong business case in this very important project to Stena Renewable“.

Vestas Northern Europe is one of seven Sales Business Units in the Vestas Group. The V112-3.0 MW was released for sales in August 2010. It is based on proven technology and Vestas’ more than 30 years of experience within manufacturing wind turbines. The V112-3.0 MW is designed for low and medium wind speeds. 80 per cent of a V112-3.0 MW turbine can be recycled, and after approximately eight months, the wind turbine is energy-neutral, which means that it will contribute to reducing carbon emissions for more than 19 years. During its lifetime, the V112-3.0 MW wind turbine only emits 7 grams of CO2 per kWh, deriving from production and installation of the turbine.
