Wind energy in Croatia: new wind farm in Zadar

A new wind farm will soon be completed in Zadar, which could provide renewable energy for approximately 70% of local electricity.

The opening of the wind farm is planned in 2012 with the installation of sixteen wind turbines with a total capacity of 37 MW. The wind power project will cost 37 million euros.

According to government plans, 20% Croatian consumption should come from renewables by the end of 2020. An ambitious goal, considering that the country has only a few wind farms, compared with 20,000 MW in Spain.
