enXco 205 MW wind farm in Minnesota is operational

enXco Inc, a unit of French renewable energy company EDF Energies Nouvelles, said that its 205.5-MW Lakefield wind farm in southwestern Minnesota had reached full operation.

The company has struck a 20-year power purchase agreement with Indianapolis Power & Light Co. for 200 MW of the wind power plant’s capacity.

The Lakefield wind farm, located in Jackson County, includes 137 GE 1.5-MW wind turbines. According to enXco’s calculations, the facility can power over 68,000 local households.

Construction of the project kicked off in September 2010. Permanent financing is provided by Union Bank and MetLife in the form of a leveraged lease.

Lakefield is enXco’s ninth wind farm in Minnesota, bringing the company’s wind generation capacity in the state to 914.5 MW.
