Geothermal Energy Expo

The Icelandic bank, Islandsbanki, will be highlighting its commitment to the geothermal energy industry in the U.S. during this year’s Geothermal Energy Expo and the GRC Annual Meeting, taking place October 23-26, 2011 in San Diego, California.

This year’s event will mark the bank’s fifth appearance at the geothermal energy conference, where it will release its fifth annual United States Geothermal Energy Market Report. The report aims to provide an overview of developments, operations and challenges facing the geothermal industry in the United States. The report also contains estimates on capacity additions and financing needs for the next five years.

Islandsbanki also maintains an online Geothermal Industry Dashboard, via its website, in order to keep interested parties informed on the current status of the international geothermal industry. This resource is designed to give a user-friendly overview of the industry under various data sectors.

The Geothermal Energy Expo is the world’s largest gathering of vendors providing support for geothermal resource exploration, characterisation, development, production and management.

Furthermore, it is estimated that the attendees for the 2011 GRC Annual Meeting will likely beat those of 2009 and 2010, with more technical sessions and presentations taking place than before.

The nature of geothermal projects demands a thorough understanding of the underlying technical issues and risks. Islandsbanki employs a group of experts who focus on the geothermal industry. The group is part of the corporate banking unit and handles relations and services for domestic and foreign geothermal energy companies, as well as the publication of research reports.

Over the years, many of the largest and most prominent geothermal companies globally have been valued customers of Islandsbanki.
