Completion of Sheffield Wind Energy Project

WHAT:

First Wind will host a ribbon-cutting and luncheon barbeque to celebrate the completion of the company’s 40 MW Sheffield Wind turbines project in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. As part of the event, Governor Shumlin, local officials and community members will join First Wind to dedicate Vermont’s first utility-scale wind energy project. The project will generate enough power for more than 14,000 Vermont homes, or nearly half of the homes in the Northeast Kingdom. The clean power generated by the project will be sold to Burlington Electric Department (BED), the Vermont Electric Cooperative, Inc. (VEC) and the Washington Electric Cooperative, Inc. (WEC) under power purchase agreements.
