Cornwall wind farm plan gets green light

REG said it "anticipates that formal planning permission should be received in the next few weeks". Planning application has been submitted for five wind turbines – each 100 metres to the tip of the blades.

Andrew Whalley, REG chief executive officer, said: "The decision by Cornwall Council is welcome news and it is particularly pleasing to secure consent at local authority level, without recourse to the additional expense and delay of the appeal system.

"When operational the output generated by the wind farm will be sold into the local electricity network adding significantly to Cornwall’s overall green electricity targets.

"The wind farm will also make a considerable contribution to the local community by way of upfront and annual payments."
