TEi Equipment to Supply Feedwater Heaters for Solar Power Plant in Desert Southwest

Thermal Engineering International (USA) Inc. (TEi), a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc., and Struthers Wells, a division of (TEi), have been awarded a contract to supply feedwater heaters, moisture separators and oil to salt heat exchangers for a Solar Power Plant located in Southwest U.S.

TEi said it will supply ten feedwater heaters; four high-pressure, six low-pressure units, and two moisture separators. These feedwater heaters will utilize the extracting steam from various points of the turbine to increase the temperature of the Feedwater, and thus improving the plant’s overall heat rate. In addition, the Company noted that Struthers Wells, a division of TEi, will supply six oil to salt heat exchangers. The plant will be using Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) technology to capture heat generated by sunlight to convert into electricity. Upon its completion, this plant will generate 280 Megawatts of electricity, and will make a significant contribution to fulfill renewable energy power demands in the Southwest U.S.

Geoffrey Greenberg, VP of Sales and Marketing for TEi’s Utility Products Division (UPD) said, "We are pleased to be selected to supply our world recognized technology and expertise for one of the largest solar power plants being built in the U.S. today."

"We are pleased to supply equipment and services, and continue the expansion of our solar generation technology around the world. The application of our oil to salt heat exchangers in Concentrated Solar Power Plants highlights our bpigreen initiative, to provide the most cost effective, environmentally responsible solution for our customers’ specified needs," said Ken Murakoshi, Senior VP – GM of Struthers Wells.

Babcock Power Inc., through its subsidiaries, is a supplier of technology, equipment, and services to the power generation industry.
