Turkey’s wind energy reached 1,600 megawatts

Akhisar Wind Farm (AKRES) was inaugurated in the western province of Manisa on Sunday. Attending the inauguration of the wind farm, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said that political stability brought economic stability which caused a big economic development in Turkey.

Noting that Turkey ranked the third in global growth speed in 2010, and first in the first quarter of 2011, Arinc said that 11 percent growth speed would not continue, adding that 6-7 percent growth speed was realistic for Turkey.

Arinc said that during the last three years, when global economic crisis was on the most influential level, Turkey’s average exports figure reached 110 billion USD, while unemployment rate dropped, and inflation and growth figures had been on good level.

Energy & Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz also participated in the inauguration. AKRES will generate 165 million kilowatt/hours of electricity annually.
