Siemens to supply solar field for 50 MW Concentrating Solar Thermal Power plant in Andalusia

Siemens Energy (Erlangen, Germany) announced that it has received an order from Ecolaire España SA (Madrid, Spain) to supply a solar field for a 50 MW concentrating solar power (CSP) plant in Andalusia, Spain.

The Arenales plant, located near Morón de la Frontera, will utilize parabolic trough CSP technology. Ecolaire España expects to commission the plant in 2013.

The complete solar field comprises 156 loops, and Siemens will supply both the parabolic mirrors and the UVAC receiver. The plant will also utilize a thermal storage unit which will allow electricity generation during cloudy periods or after the sun goes down.

This is Siemens Energy’s second order for an entire solar field, following on an order for the Olivenza CSP plant in Extramadura, Spain. Together with the Arenales plant, Siemens is now constructing 100 MW of complete solar fields.

Ecolaire España is a subsidiaryof the Obrascón Huarte Lain SA (Madrid, Spain). Siemens Energy is a division of Siemens AG (Munich, Germany).
