According to a private television channel, NEPRA officials said that uniform tariffs would remain in effect for at least 20 years. The authority officials said uniform tariffs were meant for early completion of wind farm projects, as the increase in wind power generation would whittle down the dependence on imported furnace oil.

Wind turbines companies will not have to get tariffs approved by NEPRA. However, the tariffs will not be applicable in case the generation license of the concerned company is cancelled. NEPRA officials further said the notification regarding uniform tariffs would be issued after public hearing.
