REpower Wins Wind Energy Contract for White Mill Wind Farm

REpower has signed a deal to supply wind turbines for the White Mill Wind Farm, a wind power joint venture between the Ventus Funds, managed by Climate Change Capital Ltd, and The Co-operative Group. The 14 MW wind farm at Coldham in Cambridgeshire will see REpower supply 7 REpower MM82 wind turbines.

The wind turbines, each with a rated output of 2.05 megawatts (MW), will generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of at least 8,000 homes annually. Civils work is due to commence in August 2011 and installation at the site will begin in Q1 2012.

Rick Eggleston, Managing Director of REpower UK, commented: "We’re delighted to be working with two companies that have such strong sustainability credentials and goals. REpower has installed MM82 wind turbines at seven other wind farms in the area, and this model has proven to be ideally suited to the local wind conditions and terrain. In fact, White Mill Wind Farm happens to be situated only three miles away from REpower’s earliest installation of a wind turbine in the UK at the Longhill site in 2005."

Since its launch in 2004 REpower UK has delivered 35 onshore wind farms in Scotland, England and Wales and one offshore wind farm, Project Beatrice, in the North Sea. However, its largest offshore contract is currently underway, with the company supplying 30 wind turbines for Vattenfall’s Ormonde wind farm in the Irish Sea with a total rated output of 150 MW.
