Nordex wind energy order for N100/2500 wind turbines for a wind farm in Spain

Eolia is one of the leading independent European generators of power from renewable sources. The company is calling in the wind turbines from a master agreement signed with Nordex in 2007. In addition to delivery of the machines, the order also includes turnkey installation of the wind farm. Furthermore, Eolia Renovables is taking advantage of the Nordex Premium Service.

The 37.5 megawatt wind farm “Sant Antoni” is being built in the Spanish region of Catalonia. Nordex plans to complete the infrastructure work and foundation construction by autumn so that the turbines can be set up in the course of this year. The annual energy yield is expected to be around 93,000 megawatt hours.

“Sant Antoni” is the first N100/2500 wind power project in Spain and one of the largest Nordex wind farms there. “Caramonte”, with 22 N90/2500 wind turbines, also ranks among the largest Nordex projects in Spain and belongs to Eolia as well.

As a technological leader among suppliers of megawatt wind turbines, Nordex benefits particularly from the global trend towards large-scale wind turbines. The product range includes one of the largest series wind power systems in the world (N80/2500, N90/2500, N100/2500, N117/2400) with more 1,500 of these turbines having been produced to date.

This means that Nordex has a crucial edge in terms of experience in operating large turbines compared to most of its competitors in the sector. Overall, Nordex has installed a more than 4,400 wind turbines with a capacity in excess of 6,600 MW around the world. With exports accounting for over 95 percent of its business, Nordex also has a strong position in international high-growth regions. The company has offices and subsidiaries in 19 countries. In total, the Group employs more than 2,600 people worldwide.
