Siemens to supply 63 wind turbines for five wind energy projects in Brazil

Siemens Energy has received a wind energy order to deliver 63 SWT-2.3MW-101 wind turbines to five wind farm sites in Brazil from Tractebel Energia.

Four of the wind farms are in the state of Ceará and one in Piauí in northeastern Brazil. The combined wind power capacity of the sites will be 145 MW, after the wind energy projects are commissioned late 2012

Siemens Wind Power chief executive Jens-Peter Saul said “This is the third order in the last six months Siemens has received for wind turbines from Brazil. This demonstrates the confidence our customers have in our technology and in our commitment to a successful internationalization strategy.”

Brazil is a key wind energy market with experts estimating up to 5 GW will be installed by 2015, Siemens said.
