Enel Green Power Starts Operating A New Wind Energy Plant in France

Enel Green Power France has put into operation the Moulin à Vent wind farm which increases the company’s total installed capacity in France by 10 MW. This wind Farm operates 5 wind turbines of 2 MW each and is located in the Aube department, near the town of Nogent-sur-Seine, Champagne Ardenne region.

The Moulin à Vent wind farm will produce over 23 million kWh per year of zero emission power, enough to meet the energy needs of about 7,000 households. The energy produced by the farm will cut down emissions for 18,000 tonnes of CO2.

The entry into operation of this new project confirms the sound implementation of Enel Green Power’s growth strategy on the French renewable sector. Currently Enel Green Power France operates a total installed capacity of 148 MW and has an additional 18 MW of wind capacity under construction which will enter into operation during 2011. Enel Green Power can also count on additional development opportunities by leveraging on a project pipeline in hydro, solar power and wind of more than 1,000 MW.

Enel Green Power is the Enel Group company devoted to the development and management of power generation from renewable sources at the international level, with a presence in Europe and the Americas. It is among the industry leaders worldwide thanks to its approximately 22 billion KWh generated from a well balanced energy mix inclusive of water, sun, wind and geothermal energy sources. This is enough to meet the energy needs of about 8 million households and avoid the emission of more than 16 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. The company’s installed capacity exceeds 6,100 MW, produced by more than 620 plants in operation around the world, with a generation mix that includes wind, solar, hydro, geothermal energy and biomass.
