Wind power in Tasmania

Hydro Tasmania has also acquired the Musselroe wind energy development project (168 MW) in Tasmania’s north east and a development funnel of over 400 MW of potential wind farm projects. CLP now owns the Waterloo wind farm, a 50 per cent share of the Cathedral Rocks wind farm and some development opportunities, all in South Australia, the company said.

As of today, the joint venture’s assets, as well as its development opportunities, have been divided between the former partners Hydro Tasmania and CLP.

The decision has been approved by the Tasmanian shareholder Ministers with formal execution of the deal following clearance obtained from the ACCC and the Foreign Investment Review Board. The agreement to end the joint venture followed a strategic review and extensive discussions between the joint venture partners, the company added.

Hydro Tasmania CEO Roy Adair said "We are pleased to assume the ownership of the Tasmanian wind turbines, the Musselroe wind farm and the other wind power development opportunities. They will enable us to pursue more optimally our wind energy development strategy."
