Alaska’s Largest Wind Energy Project Approved

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says the GVEA board voted unanimously Monday to approve the $90 million Eva Creek wind turbines project, which is a 24.6 megawatt wind farm planned near Healy. The association has set a launch date of September 2012.

However, the wind energy project will need to get approval from the Regulatory Commission of Alaska. GVEA President Brian Newton says that may take some convincing because large wind farms are a new concept in Alaska.
