The European wind energy conference in Brussels

On May 31st, representatives of the most influential companies in the wind power sector and institutions of the European Union held a day of meetings in Brussels. The event, organized by the EWEA (European Wind Energy Association), included the participation of Francesco Starace, CEO of Enel Green Power, and Felice Egidi, Head of Regulatory Affairs for EGP.

The European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) is the voice of the wind turbines and wind farm industry, actively promoting the utilization of wind power in Europe and worldwide since 1982. More than 600 members from nearly 60 countries including manufacturers, suppliers, research institutesand electricity providers, make the association the world’s largest and most powerful wind energy network.

The meetings tackled issues including the themes of infrastructure priorities for 2020 and beyond, legislative framework and financing needs for 2020 and beyond, authorization procedures for renewable energy power plants, RES target for 2030, 2040 and 2050, and the harmonization of support schemes for renewables around the EU-27.

In addition to Starace and Egidi, was Carmen Becerril, Chairman of Acciona Energy, Anders Eldrup, CEO of Dong Energy, Michael Lewis, Managing Director Europe of E.ON Climate & Renewables, Xabier Viteri, CEO of Iberdrola Renovables, Jens-Peter Saul, CEO of Siemens Wind Power, Arthouros Zervos, CEO of PPC, and Ian Mays, CEO and founder of the RES Group. Representing the European Commission was Connie Hedegaard, European Commissioner for Climate Action , and Günter Oettinger, European Commissioner for Energy , along with members of the European Commission on Industry, Research and Energy.
