Workshops to teach about solar power, wind energy

Participants will be exposed to solar power and wind energy and electricity fundamentals, and to the MSJC Solar/Wind/Manufacturing Employee Concentration Certificates.

Students will make a solar thermal oven, produce solar electricity and a build a wind turbine that will produce electricity and lift weight.

The wind energy workshop will run from 8 a.m. to noon June 20-23. The solar energy workshop will be from 8 a.m. to noon June 27-30.

Both workshops will be held at the Hemet Academy of Applied Academics and Technology, rooms 706 and 707, 831 E. Devonshire Ave., Hemet.

Space is limited. Students entering ninth grade in the fall will have priority registration. Students entering eighth grade will be enrolled as space permits.
