Juhl Wind, Suzlon Energy Trade Community Wind Power Project to Olympus Power

The Grant County Wind Farm project also known as Community-Based Energy Development (C-BED) project owned by Juhl Wind in association with local farmers is acquired by Olympus Power, a Morristown, New Jersey-based company.

The Grant County Wind Farm project located in southwestern Minnesota comprises 10 numbers of S88 – 2.1 MW wind turbines that are designed to generate a maximum of 20 MW power at top wind speed. The wind farm is linked with both Otter Tail Power Company and Northern States Power (NSP), a subsidiary company of Xcel Energy. NSP has entered into a 20 year power purchase agreement with Grant County to buy the power and distribute it into its service area spread over the northern states of Minnesota, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the Dakotas and Wisconsin.

The Grant County Wind Farm has been functioning since March 2010 and is generating power continuously with 98% uptime. The power generated from the facility is sufficient to supply electricity to 7,000 houses in the location.
