Wind energy Vestas India appoints executive Chairman

Vestas India, today announced the appointment of Mr. Rajiv Wahi as its executive Chairman, with immediate effect. Rajiv’s main role will be to drive the business towards the ambitious goals that have been set for Vestas in the vibrant Indian wind power market. He will also play an important part in engaging and strengthening existing relationships with wind turbines customers, business partners, the Indian government and industry stake-holders. Rajiv will report to Mr Sean Sutton, President, Vestas Asia Pacific.

Mr. Wahi brings to the board a rich international experience of over 35 years in key leadership positions and the expertise of building businesses in diverse geographies including UK, Africa and APAC. Prior to joining Vestas India, Mr. Rajiv Wahi spearheaded Cadbury Schweppes’ APAC operations as their President.

Rajiv graduated in Economics from the University of Newcastle (UK) in 1975 and joined Cadbury Schweppes as a management trainee. After a number of roles in Finance, he moved into Marketing and subsequently, General Management. He is currently a Board Member of MediaCorp, Singapore’s leading media organisation.

Vestas India also announced the appointment of Mr. Amit Kansal as Vice President Sales, Vestas India. Amit earlier headed the Marketing & Customer Insight for Asia Pacific and was instrumental in the transformation of Vestas’ Asia Pacific operations from a product-oriented to a customer centric organization via various customer related initiatives.

Amit will be responsible for leading the Vestas India sales organisation in developing relationships with our key customers, pursuing supply and service after market sales, securing customer loyalty and ensuring Vestas meet its order intake targets in India. An electrical engineer and MBA by education, Amit will be based in Mumbai and will report into Mr Rajiv Wahi.
