North American Car and Truck of the Year

Federal-Mogul Corporation (Nasdaq: FDML), a global leading supplier of automotive technologies, announced that it is supplying various components for the 2011 North American Car and Truck of the Year, revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Federal-Mogul innovations on the 2011 Chevrolet Volt electric vehicles – the North American Car of the Year – include powertrain and electrical components as well as protective coverings from the company’s Systems Protection group for the vehicle’s high-voltage electrical system, lithium-ion battery pack cooling system and braking system.

Federal-Mogul’s leading technology on the new 2011 Ford Explorer – the 2011 North American Truck of the Year – include main bearings, flange bearings and rod bushings as well as the cylinder head, exhaust manifold and oil turbo gaskets on the 3.5L GTDI engine. The company also provides unipistons and bushings for the 2011 Explorer’s transmissions, and thermal and mechanical protection coverings for the vehicle’s brake lines, fuel line, HVAC system and electrical wiring. Federal-Mogul additionally supplies mini-sockets for Explorer’s exterior lighting.

"Developing innovations and delivering leading technology to our customers is a fundamental priority for Federal-Mogul to generate sustainable global profitable growth," said Federal-Mogul President and CEO Jose Maria Alapont. "We congratulate GM, Chevrolet and Ford on receiving these prestigious awards. We are proud to contribute to the success of these outstanding vehicles and remain committed to helping our customers deliver products using advanced technologies that deliver optimal fuel economy, reduce emissions and enhance vehicle safety and performance characteristics."

The winners of the 2011 North American Car and Truck of the Year awards were announced on January 10, 2011. The annual awards are designed to recognize the most outstanding vehicles of the year based on factors that include innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar. The awards are unique because — instead of being given by a single media outlet — they are given by automotive journalists from the United States and Canada who represent magazines, television, radio, newspapers and websites.
