Wind energy REpower: Contract for 51 MW for wind farm project in US signed

The REpower MM92 wind turbines, each with a rated power of 2.05 megawatts (MW) and a hub height of 80 meters, are destined for one of EverPower’s development wind energy projects located across the US states of New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington. EverPower has advanced stage projects totaling more than 600 MW of capacity targeted for construction over the next three years.

The 25 wind turbines will have a total power output of 51 megawatts. They are to be delivered in summer 2011 and commissioned by the end of the same year. Each wind turbine produces up to 6.5 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of wind electricity per year. This is the first wind energy project between EverPower and the German-based wind turbine manufacturer’s USA subsidiary. In addition to installation and commissioning the wind turbines, REpower and EverPower have entered into a long term service and maintenance agreement.

Steve Dayney, Managing Director of REpower USA said, “We are happy to be working with the team at EverPower. With our industry proven solutions, EverPower will benefit from the powerful MM92 wind turbine plant technology.”

“We are very pleased to be entering into our first contract with REpower USA,” said Jim Spencer, president and CEO of EverPower Wind Power. “REpower has some of the industry’s highest yields and is known for quality and reliability. We are hopeful that we will be able to deploy most of these wind turbines in New York and New Jersey where we have advanced development assets.”

REpower USA Corp., headquartered in Denver, Colorado, has now installed or sold more than 400 wind turbines with a total power of more than 800 MW in the USA. Wind farms with REpower wind turbines have been constructed or installed in the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Michigan, and Indiana to a diverse group of customers.
