Vestas – First of many wind turbines

The Roman Blandey Wind Farm, which consists of five V90-2.0 MW wind turbines, took six months to complete. “We faced many obstacles during this time,” says Patrick Guenot, Project Manager at the wind farm. “One issue was delays with the grid, which meant our service technicians had to leave the site and wait for the customer grid date”.

“But we never gave up and I am very happy with the outcome. The completion of this first wind power site is a big step and I expect it to set a high standard for the rest of the wind energy project,” says Guenot.

The EDPR deal involves the delivery of wind turbines with a total capacity of 1500 MW to North America, South America and Europe in 2011 and 2012, with the possibility of an additional 600 MW of wind power during this period.

Borja Vallejo, Key Account Manager for EDPR, says “this is just the starting point of a long journey full of competitiveness and constraints that will allow Vestas to demonstrate its outstanding capabilities.”
