It is estimated that the larger twelve wind turbine Hyndburn wind farm will generate around 70 million kWh of electricity per year which is the equivalent to the estimated electricity requirements of 52% of the households within the Hyndburn area. The total capacity for both wind farms will be 43.05 MW, providing enough electricity to power 24,000 homes in total.
Following the signing of these wind power contracts, construction is due to start in the second half of 2011 for Hyndburn wind farm and the first half of 2012 for Withernwick wind farm. The sites are scheduled for completion in 2012.
