THINK sales growth in Spain

THINK and its Spanish distribution partner, Going Green, have embarked on relationships with several new customers on the back of recent promotions and the introduction of air-conditioning as standard to the THINK City – the world’s best selling electric car.

First and foremost is an innovative new scheme launched by Madrid City Council named ‘Madrid Avisa!’ – whereby Madrileños contact the service should they require council maintenance services in the city. Madrid Avisa’s 72hrs rapid response commitment is delivered using electric vehicles with lithium ion batteries, with a fleet of THINK City electric cars and electric scooters.

One of Europe’s largest electricity suppliers, Iberdrola has also recently taken delivery of its first fleet of THINK City EVs, to be used as courier cars in Madrid, Valencia and Bilbao. The company has committed to replace 40% of its total internal combustion engine fleet.

In addition, Spain’s newest and most forward-looking car-share company, Cochele, has purchased several new THINK City EVs, which will be used to launch the innovative new scheme. Introduced in Seville initially, the new service offers residents and visitors to the city the use of a THINK City for zero-emissions trips around the Andalucian capital.

Both ING Car Lease and Zardoya Otis have also just taken delivery of their first demonstrator THINK City models for initial tests in Madrid, with a view to rolling out the use of EVs across the country in the coming months.

“Electric vehicle sales got off to a modest start in Spain, but now that the THINK City is readily available and fully air-conditioned, the Spanish appetite for the world’s best-selling electric car is growing fast,” said Michael Lock, THINK’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Thanks to the adoption of the City in excellent new schemes such as Madrid Avisa we look forward to THINK becoming synonymous with EV success across Spain.

THINK is a pioneer in electric vehicles and a leader in EV technology, developed and proven over 20 years. With nearly 10,000 electric vehicles on the road and more than 56 million kilometres (35 million miles) of customer experience, THINK is at the very heart of this embryonic industry. The THINK City is currently the world’s best-selling electric car and the first EV to be granted pan–European regulatory safety approval. It is sold across Europe, with sales and production about to start in the US and operations being developed in Asia.

THINK is also a leader in electric drive-system technology, and was the first to offer a modular and flexible EV drive-train solution in the commercial sector. With its Scandinavian origins and sustainability mindset, it is one of the most carbon-efficient car companies in the world.
