Start up of the Concentrating Solar Power Plant Hassi R?Mel in Algeria

The plant will produce 150 megawatts of which 25 will correspond to solar power generation. Hassi R’Mel-ISCC has a total area of 150 hectares, it consists of two gas turbines of 40 megawatts, a steam turbine of 80 megawatts, two recovery boilers HRSG, an air cooled condenser and a solar field of 224 parabolic cylinder collectors (56 links).

The solar field of parabolic cylinder collectors covers an area of 600,000 square meters of mirrors. The CCP technology is based on the concentration of solar rays on a tube that absorbs heat and inside circulates a fluid that reaches high temperatures. This liquid is used to generate water vapor that is injected into the combined cycle, where afterwards, through a turbine generator, it produces electric power.

The implementation of the open cycle is at an advanced stage, having already completed the “cold commissioning” of the gas turbine, regulation station and gas measurement, high voltage system, compressed air, fire protection and cooling, and at the same time, progressing in implementing activities of the closed cycle, having started the commissioning of the steam turbine, water treatment plant and chemical injection.

The construction phase, nearing completion, has involved 1,000,000 cubic meters of earthwork, 18,000 cubic meters of concrete, 1.4 million kilograms of structural reinforcement steel, 80,000 welding inches and 12,000 square meters of built up area, distributed between industrial buildings and buildings.

Abener and Teyma are demonstrating their ability to assume large projects jointly, with competence and effectiveness, optimizing the objectives of time and performance.

The work coordinated between Abener (www.abener.com) and Teyma (www.teyma.com) emerged a leader in engineering and construction of projects for sustainable development. The trajectory of Abener and Teyma as pioneer solar thermal power plant and the largest biofuel plants, along with the ability of integration are the pillars of this successful consortium.

The expansion of both companies in the international market aims to meet global demand of new sustainable solutions, providing the most experience and guarantee of success.
