Jordan invites developers to bid wind farm at Fujeij

Jordan’s Energy & Mineral Resources Ministry has invited developers to bid by December 19th 2010 to build its next wind farm at Fujeij.

As per report, of the 16 prequalified companies, 13 attended a bidders’ conference held on August 9th 2010 which included a site visit.

The request for proposals to build the wind power project was issued in July. While companies were led to expect a December deadline, the December 19 cut off date was finalized and the bidders were notified at the conference.

The following companies have been prequalified to bid

4. GDF Suez
5. International Constructional, Damco and Christopher D Constantinidis
6. K&M and IESA
7. Mitsui
8. Sorgenia
9. Terna, Enara and Vector
10. Gecal
11. Kepco
12. Eltech Anemos
13. Elecnor
14. Fortore
15. International Power
16. Tecneira.

According to a source close to the deal, bidders have been asked to outline financing plans showing ‘substantive conversations with lenders.

Feasibility studies by the government have indicated the proposed wind energy site, located near Shobak, 200 kilometers south of Amman would be suitable for an initial 80 MW to 100 MW wind turbines facility. This could be increased to 250 MW at a later date.
