Suzlon receives 37.8 MW wind power order from Serum Institute of India

Suzlon Energy Limited (SEL), the world’s third leading and India’s largest wind turbines manufacturer, has won a order from Serum Institute of India Limited to set up, operate and maintain a 37.8 megawatt (MW) wind energy project at Jaibhim in Dhule-Nandurbar wind farm in Maharashtra.

The wind farm will comprise of 18 units of Suzlon’s S88 – 2.1 MW wind turbines – enough to power more than 8,000 households. Serum Institute of India Limited (wholly owned by the Poonawalla Group) has made great strides from its humble beginnings in 1966; today, they are established as the world’s largest producer of Measles and DTP group of vaccines.

The wind power project is Poonawalla Group’s second order with Suzlon and is set to be commissioned by March 2011. Dr. Cyrus S.
