Xinjiang Hami 49.5MW wind power farm operational

The wind power base is a project of China Huaneng Corp.’s Xinjiang Santanghu Wind Power Company, which completed first-phase construction in December 2009.

The 2nd-phase wind energy project, with a planned investment of 400 million yuan, will install thirty-three 1500 KW wind turbines and other supporting facilities. It can generate 230 million KWH of electricity every year upon its operation.

The wind farm has 66 750-kW wind turbines, with a total installed capacity of 49.5 MW for the first phase. The annual utilization hours will reach 2,590 hours, providing 130 million kWh of electricity to the grid each year. It is expected to save 40,400 metric tons (tonnes) of standard coal and cut sulfur dioxide emissions by 632 tonnes annually.

The China Huaneng Group, one of China’s five power giants, is the parent company of Huaneng Power International. (NYSE:HNP) (600011.SH; 00902.HK; HNP.NYSE).
