Clean Currents Expands Wind Power Option to Pennsylvania Consumers

Clean Currents, a leading green energy company in the Mid-Atlantic, announced today that it is expanding its offer of clean nationally-sourced wind power to electric customers in the PPL Electric Utilities territory in Pennsylvania and is bringing its unique, grassroots oriented Green Neighborhood Challenge to the Keystone State.

With this expansion, Clean Currents will have the ability to provide residential and commercial customers from the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania with affordable, clean, nationally sourced wind power delivered through the grid.

Pennsylvania’s energy market is deregulated, which allows consumers to shop for electric providers. Clean Currents offers consumers green power options at a great value. Consumers can choose either a 50% national wind power product or a 100% national wind power product at rates currently below PPL’s price to compare.

"Consumers in the PPL territory can now switch their home or business to wind power without having to install any equipment, make any upfront payment, or change the reliability of their service," said Gary Skulnik, Clean Currents President. "Our rates are competitive with the utilities, so there’s never been a better time to help the environment and protect your family’s bottom line by switching to Clean Currents wind power for home."

Clean Currents is also bringing its unique grassroots program, the Green Neighborhood Challenge, to Pennsylvania. To date, almost 100 communities including neighborhoods, schools, and faith organizations in Maryland and DC have enrolled in the challenge. The company works with community leaders to educate people about living a more sustainable lifestyle; advocating for environmental legislation, and greening their community. Clean Currents has further incentivized the Challenge, so that the company will pay for every signup attributed to an enrolled community, to go towards a greening project of the community’s choice.

"Through Clean Currents Green Neighborhood Challenge, Pennsylvanians can now pursue sustainable energy solutions and build stronger communities at the same time," said Skulnik.

Clean Currents began offering its clean wind energy product in 2007 to customers in central Maryland and the DC suburbs and has since grown into one of the Mid-Atlantic’s leading green energy companies, counting over 6,000 residential and 500 commercial customers across its service area. The company works with businesses and homeowners interested in switching their electricity source to green power through the grid or through on-site solar power installation. It is sustainably operated and recognized as a certified green business.
