Eaton Showcases Solutions that Transform Wind Energy into Reliable Power

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation is showcasing a range of products and services engineered to help wind farms operate more reliably, cost effectively and safely at the WINDPOWER 2010 conference and Exhibition at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, TX, from May 23 – 26, 2010. Eaton’s hydraulic and electrical solutions, which help customers transform wind turbines into reliable power, will be illustrated with a touch-screen interface on display at Booth #11462.

“Combining hydraulic and electrical expertise with global reach, engineering services, and a broad component and systems portfolio, Eaton provides a spectrum of solutions designed to reduce energy consumption and leave a smaller footprint on the environment, all while withstanding the demanding challenges of wind turbine applications,” said Rachael Elliot, director of Alternative Energy, Eaton. “We also offer renewable energy and power generation solutions for the solar and hydropower markets.”

Wind farms require a complex collection of equipment that needs to work together effectively to generate electricity and transmit it to the utility grid. Eaton provides an array of energy-efficient electrical and hydraulic solutions to meet these challenges; a virtual tour is designed to help wind-industry customers envision how they can employ state-of-the-art solutions to improve their competitive strength and operate more reliably.

Specific solutions include:

• Power protection solutions that withstand the power surges and transients typically found in harsh environment, high-altitude wind farms.

• A broad range of sensing solutions, customizable to fit specific requirements.

• Eaton’s hydraulic pumps and motors, valves, caliper brakes, cylinders, accumulators, and fluid conveyance products combine to provide reliable, smooth control of advanced turbine pitch control and yaw and braking systems.

• World-class design and engineering support, based on a long history of experience, from Eaton’s Application and Commercial Engineering (ACE) team, who work with customers to optimize a hydraulic solution with the exact flow, displacement, pressure, torque, speed and control software required.
