Nur Energie Joins Desertec

Kevin Sara, Nur Energie CEO comments: "Nur Energie’s strategy is to build local partnerships in the markets where we operate. The European Union will become an important export market for renewable energy in the future, and the Dii will be a key partner in creating the framework conditions for renewable energy export projects from North Africa into the European Union."

Nur Energie is already in the advanced stages of developing a Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) project in Greece, as well as France’s largest building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) project on the roofs of the Port of Marseille.

Nur Energie is a technology-independent solar project developer, utilizing PV, CSP and Concentrating PV (CPV) technologies across projects in Greece, France, Italy and Tunisia.

Dr. Till Stenzel, Nur Energie’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) adds: "We have been analyzing the commercial opportunity for solar export projects from North Africa to Europe for the past two years and we firmly believe that they are a commercially viable option for a greener energy future that is less dependent on volatile fossil fuels, as well as creating jobs and economic development opportunities across the Maghreb region. We look forward to working with the Dii on implementing the first projects at the earliest opportunity."

As an Associated Partner of Desertec (www.dii-eumena.com), Nur Energie will focus on contributing its expertise and experience in solar project development in the Maghreb region.

Nur Energie is a pan-Mediterranean solar development company, active in the most attractive markets of the Mediterranean region. The company’s target is to develop the first solar export project from North Africa to Europe including an HVDC merchant cable across the Mediterranean.
