Bosnia’s first wind farm

Construction of the 22 wind turbines with a 2 megawatt capacity is to be completed by the end of 2012.

A statement released Tuesday by the bank, Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau, says Europe needs green energy and Bosnia can deliver it after allocating more than €200 million to renewable energy projects over the past three years.

The new wind farm will be located in the country’s southwest where the average wind speed is above 6 meters per second. The wind energy project is expected to generate 115 GWh a year and create jobs in a country with more than 40 percent unemployment.
