REpower announces financial figures for first nine months of fiscal year 2009/10

Sales of the wind power company increased year-on-year from EUR 850.5 million to EUR 920.5 million. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) for the period from April to December 2009 stood at EUR 56.3 million compared to EUR 38.1 million in the previous year. Net profit increased from EUR 26.1 million as per end of December 2008 to EUR 32.1 million.

In the first nine months of fiscal year 2009/10 REpower Systems AG installed and recognized sales for 311 wind turbines with a total wind energy rated output of 661.70 megawatts (MW) (corresponding period of the previous year: 416 wind turbines with 850.00 MW).

The order backlog amounted to 607 wind turbines (31 December 2008: 708 turbines) with a total rated power of 1,390.66 MW (31 December 2008: 1,502.60 MW). This corresponds to a contractually confirmed order volume of around EUR 1.7 billion (31 December 2008: EUR 1.6 billion).

For the 2009/10 fiscal year, REpower most recently forecasted sales of EUR 1.4 billion and an operating profit margin (EBIT margin) of 7.5%. The Executive Board has confirmed these targets, but would like to emphasize that uncertainty regarding the achievement of its goals has increased significantly due to a growing number of projects postponed by customers and the long and persistent winter weather during the last weeks.

This could possibly lead to sales deferrals from the current to the following fiscal year. A concluding statement concerning the occurrence probability of this risk cannot be made at this point in time. A conference call for analysts and journalists will take place on 12 February 2010 at 9.30 a.m. (CET).
