Vestas receives wind power order for 48 MW in Spain

The project includes supply, installation, a VestasOnline® Business SCADA solution as well as a five-year service agreement. At the customer’s request, additional details about the customer and the wind energy project cannot be disclosed.

“We are very pleased to announce this order, which proves the continuity of wind projects in the country and the constant development of wind power supported by the Spanish government’s latest announcement about the recently approved new MW wind power,” says Juan Araluce, President of Vestas Mediterranean.

“With a total of 1,795 MW installed wind capacity as per January 2009, Andalusia is the fourth autonomous community in the ranking of accumulated installed wind capacity in Spain. With this project, Vestas is pleased to be supporting the increase of wind capacity in this region,” concludes Miguel Picardo, General Manager of Vestas Iberia.

The wind power plant will save the environment from more than 39,700 tons of CO2 on an annual basis. As of 31 December 2008, Vestas had delivered 2,232 wind turbines to the Spanish market, equivalent to 2,646 MW. Only in 2008, Vestas delivered 24.5 per cent of the total wind capacity installed in Spain.
