Vestas receives 34 MW order in Sweden

Delivery of the wind turbines is scheduled to be completed in the middle of 2010. The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the turbines, a VestasOnline® Business SCADA system and a three-year service agreement.

“It is with great pleasure we announce this order and we are pleased with the commitment and trust, which Eolus Vind once again has shown us. Eolus Vind is one of the key players in Sweden with significant plans for developing wind power in our country and we look forward to a continued cooperation in the years to come,” says Krister Poole Jönsson, Sales Director, Vestas Northern Europe.

“Eolus and Vestas have been business partners for many years and the mutual trust between us has made this order possible. Today, we are really pleased to announce our so far largest order with Vestas,” says Bengt Simmingsköld, CEO of Eolus Vind AB.

When put into production, the plants will save the environment from an annual emission of more than 30,000 tons of CO2 compared with average EU electricity.

During 2009 some €770 million were invested in wind energy in Sweden with a capacity of 500 MW. The government’s target is to increase the production of renewable energy in Sweden by 10 TWh by 2010.

During 2009 some 8 billion kronor (€770 million, $1.1 billion) were invested in 200 wind power stations with a combined capacity of circa 500 megawatts. The investments are more than twice as large as during the previous year and the expansion considerably faster than in many other countries.
