Western Lithium to Advance Its Lithium Chemicals Project in Nevada

Silvio is a chemical engineer with over 37 years of experience in project management, process design and technology development in the chemicals, petrochemicals, mining and oil and gas industries.

Silvio has been working as a consultant to Western Lithium, overseeing the preparation of Western Lithium’s scoping study by URS Corporation. Work on the scoping study is nearing completion, with results targeted for public release early in January 2010.

"As Western Lithium enters the next phase of development at its lithium project in Nevada, Silvio will play a key role to lead our engineering and development team towards planned large scale production of battery grade lithium carbonate," said Jay Chmelauskas, Western Lithium’s President.

Silvio has held various technical and executive positions at U.S. and international operating companies and major EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contractors, such as the ENI Group of Companies, Agip SpA, Snamprogetti, Westinghouse Electrical, CF Chemicals and Washington Group International. His experience includes engineering design, construction and operations; project development; economic analysis; technology development; product marketing; project financing; and business development.

Western Lithium is developing the Kings Valley, Nevada lithium deposit into potentially one of the world’s largest(1) strategic, scalable and reliable sources of high quality lithium carbonate. The Company is positioning itself as a major U.S.-based supplier to support the rising global demand for lithium carbonate that is expected from the increased use of mobile electronics and hybrid/electric vehicles.

(1) Western Lithium has completed a National Instrument 43-101 resource estimate for the envisioned initial stage of development. The current resources are part of the historical estimate of 11 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) prepared by Chevron Resources and ranks in size behind deposits in Chile (32 million tonnes LCE), Bolivia (29 million tonnes LCE), North Carolina (14 million tonnes LCE) and the DRC (12 million tonnes LCE). A qualified person has not done sufficient work to classify the historical estimate as current mineral resources under National Instrument 43-101, the Company is not treating the historical estimate as current mineral resources and the historical estimate should not be relied upon.
