LM Glasfiber to deliver blades for up to 477 turbines in Canada to REpower Systems AG

The wind turbines are to be installed during 2011-2015 and the blades will be manufactured at LM Glasfiber’s existing factory in Gaspé, Canada starting 2011.

"We are happy to extend our long-time collaboration with LM Glasfiber. LM Glasfiber’s key competencies and global footprint enables us to expand our business on the strategically important North American wind energy market and rapidly expand our supply chain," said Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) of REpower, Lars Rytter Kristensen.

LM Glasfiber’s VP, Sales and Marketing, Ian Telford added: "This contract marks an extension of our long-standing partnership with REpower and we are pleased that our strong foothold in the North American wind market now contributes to REpower’s expansion in this region. For LM Glasfiber, this contract increases our long-term visibility in Canada and secures our commitment to the local area."

The facility in Gaspé, Canada was LM Glasfiber’s second North American facility when it opened in 2006. Since then the company has doubled its overall capacity in the region with the opening of its third facility in Little Rock, Arkansas in 2008. LM Glasfiber entered the North American market more than ten years ago when it opened a factory in North Dakota, USA.
