Electric Car Company, Inc. Selected to Receive Grant From Department of Energy

Electric Car Company, Inc. (OTCBB: ELCR), a vehicle conversion Company that specializes in electric vehicles and manufacturing for the Livery and Fleet Markets, announces that it has been selected to receive a grant from the Department Of Energy (DOE) under the clean cities FY09 Petroleum Reduction Technology for the Transportation Sector Act.

The DOE grant sponsored by the Ozark Center for Sustainable Solutions calls for Electric Car Company, Inc. (ECC) to convert a Transit Shuttle Bus equipped with a 275HP Cummins diesel engine into one with a full electric drive-train.

Specifications requires ECC to replace the diesel engine in the shuttle bus with a premium 100% "Pure Electric" drive-train that will have a 150 mile travel range between charges at an average speed of 55 MPH and a top speed of 85MPH. The bus will also be equipped with air conditioning, quick response electric heating, full Regenerative Braking resulting in shorter stopping distances, all while reducing interior noise levels by 40%. The new engine and rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries are expected to have an average life of 450,000 miles.

This Grant will give ECC the opportunity to exploit a new image that the electric power-train provides to the commercial fleet industry and become well known across the general population for being among the first "Green" commercial fleet manufacturers. Electric Car Company, Inc. will then be able to demonstrate to its customers how they can realize an 80% or greater reduction in costs over the life of their fleets while operating a "zero emissions" vehicle, effectively having almost no negative impact on the environment.

"This is just about the best news we have received since we started on this path," stated Gary Spaniak, CEO of Electric Car Company, Inc. "By getting the nod from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), it reaffirms that our conversion process is not only going save companies and municipalities a lot of money, it’s also going to contribute to a greener economy and a greener planet."
