Wind turbines arriving in Maine for wind farm

Some of the towers that will support the project’s 19 wind turbines and blades that will be propelled by the wind, are scheduled to arrive today.

Business leaders and representatives from the project’s owner, First Wind, will be on hand at the Penobscot Bay port for the ship’s arrival. The turbines, blades and other equipment will then be unloaded for transportation to the project site on Bull Hill and Heifer Hill ridges in Hancock County, near Ellsworth. When it’s completed, the 34-megawatt project will provide wind energy needs for 18,000 homes.
